May 3, 2015: Anniversary edition of the Toer de Geuze

On Sunday May 3rd, 2015 the High Council for Artisan Lambic Beers (HORAL) will organise the 10th edition of the Toer de Geuze. A number of lambic brewers and gueuze blenders will open their premises for the public that day. For the occasion a special limited edition oude gueuze will be launched: the HORAL Megablend 2015. This oude gueuze is a blend of young and old lambic from nine HORAL members. The bottle of Megablend 2015 with label number 00001 will be auctioned online on April 15, 2015.

Nine HORAL members (Boon, De Troch, 3 Fonteinen, Hanssens, Lindemans, Mort Subite, Oud Beersel, Tilquin and Timmermans) are opening the doors of their breweries and blenderies on Sunday May 3, 2015 between 10 A.M. and 5 P.M. The De Lambiek visitor center in Alsemberg will also be open to the public. The entrance is free.

“By means of the Toer de Geuze, HORAL wishes to draw the attention to the craftmanship of the lambic brewers and gueuze blenders of the Pajottenland and the Senne Valley. Consumers are showing an  increased interest for traditional lambic beers such as the oude gueuze and oude kriek”, says Frank Boon, the new chairman of HORAL.

One can participate in the Toer de Geuze with their own transportation, and there are also associations who schedule tours with buses. More information is available via www.toerdegeuze.be

Online auction of the first HORAL Megablend 2015

For the occasion of the Toer de Geuze 2015, HORAL has produced a special limited edition oude gueuze: the HORAL Megablend 2015. This oude gueuze is a blend of old and young lambics from 3 Fonteinen, Boon, De Oude Cam, De Troch, Hanssens, Lindemans, Oud Beersel, Tilquin and Timmermans. A bottle of HORAL Megablend 2015 will cost 9 euro. The bottle with label number 00001 will be auctioned online on April 15, 2015.

HORAL organised the very first Toer de Geuze in 1997. Very little has changed compared to the original successful formula of this bi-annual open brewery day. Over the years the Toer de Geuze has become the largest beer event of Flemish Brabant. Two years ago more than 10.000 people participated to the Toer de Geuze.
